AMHA is a volunteer run organization. Every year hundreds of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends contribute to the operation of this association. The 2026-2026 season ran on the labour of hundreds of people who give of their time to be coaches, managers, treasurers, scorekeepers, photographers, jersey parents, evaluators and so much more. In addition to all the individuals who are devoting their time at the team level we have a group of 36 dedicated volunteers organizing things at the association level. It's hard to believe that planning for the next season is already underway but it is and your opportunity to help shape the future of AMHA is coming soon.
Most of our volunteer positions are filled in August and September or even October, that is when teams are made, coaches and managers are set and team roles are filled. Before those positions can be filled our Board of Directors and the coordinators that support them must be filled. Your opportunity to step up and into a new role is just around the corner. At the end of each season, AMHA hosts an AGM. The AGM is the opportunity for all members to come together and learn about the association and what we did this past season, and hear about our plans for the future. And lastly, it is when we elect our new Board of Directors and coordinators to their positions for the next term.
We want to encourage all of our members to review the job descriptions posted on our website under the Annual General Meeting tab. While you are reading about the positions that run our organization consider if you or someone you know has a talent to share that suits one of the positions. Next week, we will be sending out the official notice of the AGM, along with links to nominate yourself or someone else for a seat at the table. The recently held special general meeting brought in the new by-laws and new board positions. We now need to fill those roles at the AGM, if you are invested in the future of Airdrie Minor Hockey and our young athletes, and you can contribute your skill and ability, nominate yourself. If you know someone who would be perfect for one of the positions, nominate them.
Details on the process for this seasons AGM, with advance online voting, will be out next week. For now, we ask that everyone thinks about what they have to offer and if this is the year you can take on a new challenge.
