Genesis Place will be implementing the Restriction Exemption Program effective September 20, 2021.
Faced with the same difficult choice as other businesses, choosing the Restriction Exemption Program rather than a 1/3 capacity means more of our citizens can stay active in recreation and culture opportunities. https://www.alberta.ca/covid-
As of September 20th, anyone coming into Genesis Place or any of our arenas will need to show proof of at least one dose of vaccination, a negative test result from a rapid test within the last 72 hours or proof of a medical exemption. After October 25, proof of two vaccination doses will be required.
For those 12 and older to access Genesis Place or City arena for any activity, proof of a single dose of vaccination or a negative rapid covid test from within the last 72 hours will be required. Children 11 and under do not require anything to enter the facility. Genesis Place staff is reaching out to all our user groups (hockey, skating, soccer etc) to work with them to ensure restrictions are met.
Children’s programming: If you need to assist your child with changing, tying skates etc you wil l need to show proof of vaccination or the negative covid test to come into the facility to assist them. If you are not vaccinated, you can have vaccinated family/friends assist. Or, if the program you’re registered in is through the City of Airdrie, we will refund you. If it is through another organization renting out City space, please contact them directly with regards to your options. To request a refund for a City of Airdrie program, please email email@example.com
Facility Rentals: Genesis Place will have someone at the door ensuring vaccination/testing requirements are met for everyone entering the building (spectators, coaches, participants, parents, etc). Genesis Place staff will work with user groups to ensure requirements are met.
As the full details on this program are released by Alberta Health, we expect information on restrictions will be further clarified and evolve over the coming weeks.
Most importantly, we know this is a divisive topic. We understand not everyone will agree. But we thank you in advance for your patience and your kindness to our staff who have not chosen to implement these restrictions but who are asked to help enforce them.
