About AMHA

Where is Airdrie?

Airdrie is a city just north of Calgary. We are one of the fastest growing cities in Canada.  In 1979 the population of Airdrie was just under 6,000 people and in 2020 the population grew to over 70,000.  Our city is divided by the Queen Elizabeth Highway 2. We have beautiful parks and small lakes surrounded by miles of walking pathways. We have 3 recreation facilities which house the 5 ice surfaces that our teams play hockey on.

Who we are?

Our Minor hockey association has grown in leaps and bounds just like our city over the past 10 years.  We currently have over 1,400 hockey players, with a Board of Director's and Committee's totalling over 40 amazing volunteers and staff.  We have over 80 teams that are coached and managed by 400 plus hardworking super humans.  Airdrie has teams at all levels, from AAA to Recreation, with players who range in age from 5 to 18.  Our teams play in 8 different leagues, as well as our own city league and recreation divisions.

Our AAA, AA and Competitive teams travel for games and tournaments  all over Alberta. Our team members are not only hockey players but also great community supporters.  We participate in the "Hockey Fights Hunger" campaign with the Airdrie Lioness each December to collect food and items for families in need.  Our awesome female teams have a Turkey Collection each year with a Turkey bowl for the Airdrie Food Bank and have collected over 1,000 turkeys in one season, to help to feed thousands of families.  Visits to nursing homes and shovelling driveways for the elderly, our players demonstrate philanthropy at an early age!
