Wow! Congratulations on graduating from Minor Hockey! Graduation is often a time to reflect on how much you’ve done to accomplish this and to forward looking to where you will be going. This is very true for your journey through hockey as well. Whether you have gone through minor hockey from Tykes (Timbits, U7 etc.) or started later, I am sure it has been filled with joys, like winning banners, or city championships, and hard times, like tough overtime losses or playoff losses. Where will you go from here? Will you get the opportunity to play hockey, through continued education, in the juniors, or for fun with friends? I hope so!
It has been an absolute pleasure to have you in our hockey family, part of AMHA. AMHA is our athletes, it is their families, it is our volunteers, our coaches and managers, it is you. Go onto your next adventure with pride, being proud that you are what makes AMHA great. Please know that you will always have a home here in AMHA. Come back, volunteer, as a coach, on a committee, as a board member. You are always welcome!
It can be so scary and exciting at the same time, to move from one chapter to the next in life, but skills that you learned in hockey has undoubtedly given you skills that will make that transition easier. Herb Brooks once said “Great moments are born from great opportunities”. From this great moment you will have great opportunities! Congratulations, all the best to you in your future endeavors, from your hockey family!
Your dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm for the sport of hockey has brought a wonderful dynamic to AMHA and the City of Airdrie. Your journey has included growth in so many areas - not just hockey. You may have joined the sport of hockey for a number of reasons - maybe you enjoy a challenge, or like being a part of a team, or were particularly skilled in skating - and the discipline, principles, and lessons you have learned will make your transition into the next stage of your life much smoother. Don’t forget these lessons as you move forward. Be a leader among family, friends and in your community. Remember the dedication, self-sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance you have required to play Canada’s Great Game. Continue it on into your careers and families. I hope we have encouraged, supported, and prepared you to make a mark on society. And always remember, no matter where your travels take you, please know you always have a home here at AMHA. Whether it’s to coach, join the board or to introduce your own children to hockey there will always be opportunities for you here and in Airdrie. From all of us at AMHA, thank you for your time over these past years, and best of luck in all of your future endeavors. We will always be cheering for you!
