Executive Committee Member Positions Descriptions:
The Executive Committee has overall control of the affairs of AMHA and has authority to enact Regulations, Policies, Procedures and Processes, or other directives to guide and assist in the orderly operation of the Association.
The Executive Committee (EC) consists of the following positions below:
President:
- signing officer for the Association
- chairperson at all meetings of the Members, EC and Board of Directors
- can exercise powers of EC in case of emergency
- invoke interim discipline or suspension until the EC can meet
- sit on all committees
- point of contact for supervision of the AMHA staff
- manage and supervise the affairs and operations of the Association
Vice President 1 - Administration:
- signing officer for the Association
- attend all meetings and keep accurate minutes
- Secretary and Treasurer responsibilities
- handle any issues, concerns, questions from the Operations Committee
- work with the Accountant to ensure that all the required financial submissions are completed annually
- assist the President in their duties
Vice President 2 - High Performance:
- signing officer for the Association
- attend all meetings
- shall be the direct contact for all High-Performance teams
- sit on the Airdrie Elite Hockey Committee (AEHC) on behalf of AMHA
- assist the President in their duties
Vice President 3 - Competitive Stream:
- signing officer for the Association
- attend all meetings
- shall be the direct contact for all Competitive teams
- assist the President in their duties
Vice President 4 - City Stream:
- signing officer for the Association
- attend all meetings
- shall be the direct contact for all City teams
- assist the President in their duties
Vice President 5 - Female Stream:
- signing officer for the Association
- attend all meetings
- shall be the direct contact for all Female teams
- assist the President in their duties
Past President (non-voting):
- attend meetings
- act as a mentor or support for the new EC
Board of Directors
Stream Director Positions Descriptions:
The Board of Directors roles are to support their Coordinators in the day to day operation of the applicable leagues.
The Board of Directors consists of the following positions:
High Performance Director
High Performance Director - Female
Competitive Director
City Director
Female Director
Their duties include, but are not limited to:
- attend meetings of the Board
- offer support and guidance to their stream Coordinators
- assist Coaching Coordinator in selecting Head coaches for the season
- attend evaluations for their stream to ensure they run smoothly and act as the mediator in the war room
- assist their Coordinators in getting volunteers for their evaluations
- sign off on teams for their stream after the evaluation process
- attend the Coach Symposium and the Managers Meetings at the beginning of the seasons
- schedule monthly meetings with their Coordinators
- support their Coordinators with complaints and issues
- attend grievance meetings, if required
- be an ambassador for the Respect in Sport program
- become familiar with Policies, Rules and Regulations of AMHA, applicable league and Hockey Alberta
High Performance & Division Coordinators

The HP and Division Coordinator roles are to attend to the day to day operations of their applicable division.

Duties of all HP and Division Coordinators:
- attend meetings of the Board
- attend monthly meetings with their Director
- be an ambassador for the Respect in Sport program
- attend the New Board Orientation weekend, Coach Symposium and Manager Meetings at the start of the season
- offer support and guidance to their stream Coaches, Managers and Teams
- assist Coaching Coordinator in selecting Head coaches for their stream and division
- gather volunteers and attend evaluations for their stream and division
- become familiar with Policies, Rules and Regulations of AMHA, applicable league and Hockey Alberta
- if asked, attend all initial team meetings for your stream and division
Operations Committee
The Operations Committee Position Descriptions:
The Operations Committee roles are to attend to the day to day operations of their applicable area of expertise.
The Operations Committee consists of the following positions:

Tournament Coordinator

Discipline/Risk Management Coordinator
Goalie Development Coordinator
Safety Coordinator
Referee Liaison

Duties of all Operations Committee members:
- attend meetings of the Board
- attend monthly meetings with their Director
- be an ambassador for the Respect in Sport program
- most are appointed positions
Coach Coordinator:
- assist all divisions in selecting Head Coaches for the upcoming season
- identify potential Head Coaches before the teams are created
- arrange for Hockey Alberta courses that will be required for the new coaches
- send out regular communications to coaches of requirements, tips and suggestions, and drills, etc.
- Monthly contact all coaches to check in on how season is going
- follow up with coaches after parent survey data comes in to help guide them to improve for the upcoming season
- complete year end coach review interviews
- work closely with Development Coordinator to ensure consistency of communication
Player Development Coordinators:
- promote the development of all of the AMHA players and coaches
- support the Coach Coordinator with selecting Head Coaches
- attend practices of all teams over the course of the season to offer support and mentorship to coaches and players
Team Manager Coordinator:
- assist all team managers in their roles throughout the season through RAMP troubleshooting, opening bank accounts, getting started checklists, budgets, policies and procedures, etc.
- plan and organize the Team Managers meeting at the start of the season to help get all managers set up for the season
- work with the AMHA Staff to ensure team operations are running smoothly
Evaluation Coordinator:
- is in charge of the Evaluations Process at the start of each season
- they will work with the AMHA staff, Executive Committee, Stream Directors and Coordinators, etc. to ensure that all players are run through a fair and equitable evaluation process to be placed on a team
- this person will have to devote a number of hours in the month of September to be available for much of the evaluation skates
- they will need to become familiar with the Evaluation software that is used and the process
Tournament Coordinator:
- is in charge of setting up and organizing all of the AMHA home tournaments each season
- they will work with a Tournament Committee as well as volunteers from all teams that have tournaments each season
- they will be the contact for other hockey associations looking for tournaments to attend and in charge of the finances for the tournaments to ensure that they remain within budget
Equipment Coordinator:
- is in charge of equipment used by AMHA teams and coaches throughout the season
- their duties include purchasing, maintenance, repair, inventory, transportation, storage, cleaning and liquidation of equipment for AMHA
- they are responsible for ensuring we have enough equipment and jersey’s for the teams
Discipline/Risk Management Coordinator
- chair of the Disciplinary Committee
- the committee may suspend, expel or impose sanctions to any member of AMHA, player or team official who fails to comply with the AMHA Policies, Bylaws and / or Regulations of the Association
- they will hear serious complaints or concerns or issues that have gone through the chain of command process and need to be escalated
Goalie Development Coordinator:
- chair of the Goalie Development Committee
- will work with the committee to ensure that the AMHA goalies are getting proper development opportunities throughout the season
- will work with the new Player Development partner(s) to ensure the needs of our goalies are being met
- will assist in the evaluation of goalies at the start of the season by obtaining an independent goalie evaluator if approved by the EC
Referee Liaison:
- will work as a liaison between AMHA and the Airdrie Referees' Association to ensure that we maintain a good working relationship
- will work with AMHA members to recruit new officials
- will act as a mentor to young or new officials
