Our Minor hockey association has grown in leaps and bounds just like our city over the past 10 years. We currently have over 1,400 hockey players, with a Board of Directors and Committees totalling over 40 amazing volunteers and 2 full time AMHA staff. We have over 80 teams that are coached and managed by 400 plus hardworking super humans. Airdrie has teams at all levels, including AAA to Recreation, with players who range in age from 5 to 18. Our teams play in six different leagues, as well as our own city league and recreation divisions.
For a number of years, AMHA has recognized our graduating U18 athletes at the end of the regular season, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to see a sport through to the end. To recognize their commitment, the AMHA Executive Committee want to support the community minded, dedicated athletes who are moving on from minor hockey and pursuing post-secondary education by offering monetary scholarship(s).
All U18 graduating athletes are eligible to apply. U18 athletes who are leaving for post-secondary after their second year of U18 (rather than a third) and those who complete their third year of U18 but will not be attending post-secondary until the following year are still eligible to apply.
The value and number of scholarships available will vary year to year. At minimum, we will have four (4) $500 scholarships available.
