City of Airdrie Restriction Exemption Program Update

Hello Sport Groups,
Throughout the past 19 months the information we receive from the Province is scattered, late, and unclear. I understand this leads to confusion and frustration, which we share in feeling. Often, guidance we receive is overridden or changed suddenly which seems to be the case again today after dealing with conflicting written opinions from our public health officials over the past few days.
Today, we have received official word from the Province that youth (12-17 years) are exempt from demonstrating proof of vaccination, medical exemption or negative COVID-19 test accessing a facility with a Restriction Exemption Program in place as long as they are there for the sole purpose of taking part in activity. Volunteers, such as coaching staff, will also not be required to show proof of vaccination, medical exemption or negative COVID-19 test in order to perform their activity-related responsibilities within our facilities.
All other vaccine-eligible visitors/spectators 18 years and above, and those 12-17 years not participating in sport, must still produce proof of vaccination, medical exemption or negative COVID-19 test result prior to entering a City of Airdrie recreation facility.
Airdrie continues to only make decisions after direct consultation with public health officials and do not enact restrictions without consultation. We’ll continue to make adjustments, as we have over the past 19 months, as information and guidance is provided to us.
