AEHC Advantage Program are hosting their Player Pathways Hotstove Panel on Monday, January 19th at the New Airdrie Library. Their speakers for this event will be MRU Men's Head Coach, Bert Gilling; MRU Associate Director of Varsity Athletics, Rob Godfrey; and Former NHL Coach and Hockey Canada Executive, Tom Renney.

The information will be extremely helpful in understanding how today’s evolving hockey landscape shapes the development priorities for young athletes. The panelists will break down what players and parents should be focusing on at each stage of minor hockey—highlighting the skills, habits, and decision points that matter most for long-term success.

Discussions will explore how pathways differ between male and female athletes, what opportunities exist at the post-secondary and high-performance levels, and how families can navigate these options with clarity and confidence. Content will be tailored to age-specific relevance, ensuring that participants walk away with practical, actionable insights that align with their child’s current stage of play and future aspirations.
